Carol Jean DeAmbra, 77, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2024, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her devoted family including her husband, children and her youngest brother.
Born on April 3, 1947, in Fall River, MA, to George Farias and Imogene Murr, Carol was the older sister of Normand, Dennis and Allen Farias. Carol's early years were marked by her warm-hearted nature and her musical talents, which she inherited from her father, a skilled musician who directed his own dance band. Her childhood was filled with the joy of music, with Carol playing piano while her brothers mastered the trombone, trumpet, and drums.
After graduating from Mira Loma High School in 1965, Carol later returned to school, earning her college degree in 1988 when she graduated magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from California State University, San Bernardino. She worked as an accountant, later owning her own company. She became the first woman Rotarian of the Yucaipa Rotary Club and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow for her service.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Carol was a lifelong seamstress and quilter, giving away hundreds of quilts to form a legacy of beautiful designs and vibrant colors.
In 2006, Carol and her husband embarked on a new chapter in Sun City West, AZ, where they continued their tradition of community involvement. Carol's dedication to service extended to her church, Lord of Life Lutheran Church, where she played in the bell choir. She assumed leadership roles in various community organizations, including serving as the Head of the Quilters at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church and President of the Latin & Ballroom Dance Club.
Despite her numerous commitments, Carol always made time for her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Her thoughtful gestures, including cards and gifts for every occasion, exemplified her deep love and affection.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother, Imogene Murr and her brother, Dennis Farias. She is survived by her husband, Louis DeAmbra, daughter Antoinette (Toni) Samudio (Jaime), son Doug DeAmbra (Caitlyn), grandchildren Livan, Alexandra and Vincent Samudio and Micheal, Morgan and Merrick Dockham, her brothers Normand Farias and Allen Farias and her father.
A memorial service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church on April 14, 2024, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's honor to the Quilters or the Bell Choir at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in AZ.
Carol's indomitable spirit, kindness, laughter and generosity will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire all who were touched by her presence. May she rest in eternal peace.
