Eleanor L. Bogatko
Eleanor L. Bogatko passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Sun City West, Arizona. She was born on December 22, 1932, to Helen and Stephan Lorczak in Newark, New Jersey. Her two brothers, Steven and Edward preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Bogatko, and they spent 66 blessed years together.
El spent most of her youth helping her parents in the family business, Lorczak’s Department Store. She enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, entertaining family and friends. She had a passion for nature, feeding and loving animals, and spending her time at the farm and beach in South Hampton, New York. In 1955 she married the love of her life and best friend Eugene Bogatko in Newark, New Jersey Together they took over the successful family business of Lorczak’s Department Store. Eleanor and Eugene founded the Elgen Wholesale Company. Always on the go, full of life and energy was the Eleanor's way.
In 1976 they retired to Palm Springs, California. While there, she and Gene founded the “Citizen’s On Patrol “organization to assist the local police. She loved to travel and had great appreciation for the theater and piano.
In 1989 they moved to Sun City West, Arizona where she enjoyed being part of the Briarwood Country Club. She loved to greet people with her talents on the piano and decorating for gatherings and special events. Eleanor never met a stranger as her gentle, warm and caring personality would bring a smile to all.
Her final resting place will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In her memory, do a loving act of kindness, make someone smile, and tell someone you love them. El had a passionate love for animals, therefore, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the "Soldier's Best Friend, 14505 N. 75th Ave, Peoria Az. 85381 in her name.
A celebration of life Mass will be held June 30th, at 10:00 am at the Prince of Peace Catholic Parish in Sun City West.
