Barbara A Lambert, age 87, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior, in Peoria, Arizona, on June 2, 2022. Barbara was born on November 8, 1934, to Henry and Nellie Gill of Detroit, Michigan. Barb was the oldest daughter of 6 children.
Barb married Jess Lambert on May 24, 1952. They celebrated 56 years of marriage. During those years they had Steven (1956), and Suzanne (1963), as well as caring for 27 foster children. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1962. Jess worked for American Airlines, and was transferred to Phoenix, Arizona where they lived. Barb was a domestic engineer (homemaker), and when she turned 40, she went back to school to get her LPN certificate. She worked as a nurse at Boswell Hospital for 18 years.
Barb and Jess bought some land in Showlow, Arizona, and proceeded to build a cabin (off the grid), hauled water, ran a generator, and had an OUTHOUSE. They also went camping and travelled together, teaching the grandchildren to fish at local town lakes. They always attended a Bible believing church, whether at home or on the road, on Sundays. Many good family memories were made. They had 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, plus one on the way.
Barb is preceded in death by Jess Lambert in 2008, and Suzanne Hokema (Lambert) in 2014. She is survived by three brothers and one sister: Alfred Gill, Richard Gill, William Gill, and Shirley Sharum (Gill). She was also preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Reel (Gill).
Special thanks to Rosalie Judd (friend, and fellow great-grandmother, and fellow resident of Freedom Plaza, the INN) for her support of Barb through this new season of life. They shared many adventures and memories with the same grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barb (Mom) was always thinking of family, never wanting much attention. Therein, there will only be a Graveside Service on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona (Phoenix, Arizona). She will be laid to rest with Jess Lambert (Korean War Veteran).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Of The Valley.
Thank you, from Steve and Linda Lambert, for loving and missing Mom (Barb) as we do.
