Barbara "Barb" (Polensky) Larson

April 24, 2024, Barb Larson, age 79, of Sun City West, Arizona passed away in her home after a valiant battle with a blood disorder.

Barb was born October 12, 1944, in Alexandria, MN to Edna (Brabec) and Bill Polensky.  She graduated from Jefferson high school and married shortly after graduation.  Her dream of children came true, and she committed herself to raising Barbie and Mike.

Barb and Norvel Larson were married in 1976 and made their home in Valley City.  This union included Norvel’s children Scott and Ginny.   Barb and Norvel spent the summers at the lakes of MN and in 2009 started living in AZ during the winters.  They made Sun City West their full-time home in 2015.

Barb had a passion for entertaining and loved to have her friends around.  Many gatherings were enjoyed at Barb and Norvel’s house.  Her love of detail made any event special.

Barb was also a talented musician.  She played several instruments including the piano, accordion and drums.  In high school, she played in a dance band, and the band had a weekly radio spot.  She also gave accordion lessons at the age of 15. The love of music and dance was a continuous theme throughout her life.

Barb was preceded in death by her mother and father, Edna and Bill Polensky; and a special cousin, Marlene Cecere who she referred to as her sister.

She is survived by her husband, Norvel Larson; her beloved dogs, Sophie and Lily; children Barbie (Tim) Bertschi; Mike (Leah) Larson; Scott (Paula) Larson; Ginny Letson; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A memorial service and reception will be held Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel at 13738 W Camino Del Sol, Sun City West, AZ  85376.  Please consider donating to a pet shelter of your choice in lieu of flowers or memorials.
