Bill Janeshek Obituary

Bill James Janeshek, 78, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2024, in his home in Peoria, AZ surrounded by his loved ones. Born to Frank and Margaret Janeshek on January 28, 1946, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, Bill led a life defined by warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and work.

Bill leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; daughter Carrie, her spouse Tom, and their children Connor and Kate; son Randy and his partner Emily; his first wife and mother of his children, Marion; brother Jerry; sister Judy; his lifelong friend, Roger as well as extended family and friends. He also had a strong bond with his faithful pups Remey, Harley, and Chooch, who remained by his side through it all.

Bill had an incredibly sharp and organized mind, excelling in math and computer science. During his impressive career in information technology with successive leadership positions at Packard Electric, General Motors, EDS and HP, he was well-respected not only as a decisive leader but also for his genuine care for his colleagues. Bill forged lasting personal connections and friendships with many of his co-workers, even to this day.

Bill was passionate about sports. He was a lifelong fan of the National Champion University of Michigan Wolverines, the Green Bay Packers and his high-school alma mater, Kingsford Flivvers where he excelled as a fierce captain, a leader known to his teammates as “Jenna”. He also had a passion for collecting coins, particularly those from the Morgan Era of silver dollars, which symbolized the kind of patriotism that made his country great.

Known to his grandchildren as G-pa, Bill's quick wit, compassionate spirit and selflessness endeared him to all who knew him. With incredible strength and resilience he was a pillar of support for his loved ones, ensuring that everything was in order to guarantee the best for everyone around him. Despite life's challenges, Bill maintained an indomitable spirit and an unyielding commitment to those he loved throughout his lifetime.

His life was filled with cherished memories and humorous anecdotes, from his infamous "kerosene burgers" in the Outer Banks to long-winded “lawn mower stories”. Bill's quirks and endearing foibles brought joy and laughter to those closest to him.

His relationship with his soul-mate Linda spanned 28 years and three states. Together, they enjoyed the thrills of Vegas slots, oyster bars and Bob’s Steakhouse. Bill and Linda were each other’s biggest fans, and always maintained a harmonious house when Bill’s Wolverines faced Linda’s THE Ohio State Buckeyes. Go Blue! “Billy and Linnie's" love and devotion set the standard for Team Janeshek.

A memorial service will be held in Arizona on Thursday, February 29, at 3:00 PM, at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel 13738 W Camino del Sol, Sun City West. The family also plans to hold a celebration of life for friends and family in the U.P. of Michigan at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Bill’s name to the Arizona Humane Society in honor of Bill's love for his furry companions.

Bill James Janeshek lived a life marked by love, laughter, and unyielding resilience. His memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy of wit, kindness and compassion will continue to inspire the lives he touched.
