Carolyn Robison Obituary

On Monday March 11, 2024, Carolyn Ann Robison passed away peacefully at home in her beloved community of Sun City West.

Carolyn was born March 2, 1945, in Spokane, Washington to Ida and Frank Darlington. She was raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and would eventually make her way to western Washington where she enjoyed a career in finance with Boeing. It was here she raised her two daughters, Laura and Sheri, and eventually met and married Bert Robison. Together, Carolyn and Bert would travel all over the US in their RV, and traveled the world, eventually arriving in Sun City West, AZ. Although Sun City West became Carolyn’s oasis, she continued to enjoy travel, whether it was to Depoe Bay with the girls, or to the Far East, she loved sharing experiences with the people she loved.

Carolyn led an active social life, she discovered Briarwood Country Club where she immediately found somewhere she belonged, she was active with the Lady Putters, and could often be found playing bridge. Additionally, Carolyn served proudly as a member of Briarwood’s board, feeling the need to contribute something back to the place that made her feel welcome. Carolyn treasured the many friendships she found there.   Carolyn also enjoyed gardening, and sitting on her patio to watch the sunset was her favorite thing to do. Carolyn was deeply devoted to her family, and her friends often became a part of her extended family. Carolyn was well known for always having an open door for family and friends, particularly during the holidays, and she thrived in the community that she found within Sun City West.  In the last days of her illness, she expressed a deep gratitude for the amazing nurses, hospice teams and other health professionals who crossed her path. Her legacy is one of loving kindness and gratitude.

Greeting Carolyn in heaven were her husband Bert, and her daughter Laura. She will be missed greatly by her surviving family: Frank Darlington (brother), Sheri Halverson (daughter), grandchildren April Nuss, Brandy Schooley, Holly Halverson, Billy Halverson and great grandchildren Brenna, Brian, Keanan, Riley, Xavier, Jordy and Fritz.

A celebration of a life well lived will be held on Friday April 12, 2024, at Briarwood Country Club at 4:30p.m.  In lieu of flowers and to acknowledge the care and kindness Carolyn experienced donations may be sent to Hospice of the Valley 1510 E. Flower St.
Phoenix, AZ 85014
