Cecile Lasinski Obituary

Cecile Lasinski, age 98, of Sun City West, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, in Sun City West, Arizona. Cecile was born on June 3, 1923, to the late Michael and Anna (Sito) Glen in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Cecile was the youngest of their eleven children of whom eight survived to adulthood. Cecile graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. On November 8, 1941, she married Joseph Donald Lasinski (Joe) and they began their 79 years of married life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They had one son Thomas Allen with whom they had a warm and supportive relationship.

After World War II, during which Joe was in the U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific, the family moved to the westside of Chicago close to Cecile’s sisters. Cecile worked in quality control for the Sunbeam Corporation. Upon retirement, Joe and Cecile gave up on the cold winters of Chicago and moved to Arizona. They settled first to Mesa, and then moved to Sun City West, where they resided for 29 years until their recent deaths.

Family was very important to both Joe and Cecile with many trips back to Stevens Point to see the extended family there. They travelled often to Stevens Point from their homes in Chicago and then Arizona. Cecile was very close to her sisters Sofie, Victoria (Vic), and Ann. Vic and Ann and their spouses followed Joe and Cecile by settling in Mesa upon their retirement. The Arizona branch of the family saw each other frequently and were important supports for one another.

Cecile and Joe were renowned for their apple pies at family gatherings where Cecile’s role was to prepare the apples and carefully adjust the spices for the filling. Cecile was a good accomplished cook, always interested in acquiring new recipes. Wrapping packages neatly and carefully was a skill she had acquired while working retail in Milwaukee. Joe and Cecile liked to bowl, and they joined leagues both in Chicago and Arizona. Cecile played card games and was an expert at many versions of solitaire. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and in her later years did many of them with her grandson. Cecile followed the latest fashions and took pride in her appearance. She enjoyed her volunteer work as an usher at the SunDome in Sun City West. As they aged, Cecile and Joe relied on the attentive and thoughtful care and concern of their nephew Dale Kurzinski and his partner Holly Haisma who live nearby in Peoria.

Cecile is survived by her daughter-in-law Barbara, her grandson Michael and his wife Stacy, her great grandson Isaac, and many loving family and friends.  Cecile was preceded in death by all her siblings, her husband Joseph, and her son Thomas.

A funeral service has been held and inurnment is at the Garden of Eternal Peace at Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel Niches next to Joseph. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
