Dallas Keck Obituary

Dallas Sterling Keck of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Wymore, was born the 2nd of 7 children in Liberty, Nebraska on August 1, 1929. He died peacefully on December 29, 2023 at his home. He attended Barneston High School and graduated in 1947. He left Nebraska traveling the country looking for work and joined the United States Army in 1950. While on leave in 1952, he married the love of his life, Thelma Jones on November 1, 1952. Over the next 20 years they traveled many different places while raising their children, Cynthia, Danny, James, and Barbara. Dallas retired from the United States Air Force in 1972 and moved back home to Wymore. Dallas was employed with Store Kraft Manufacturing Company for 22 years before retiring a second time in 1994. Dallas was a member of the Wymore Church of Christ and the Anderson Post #25 American Legion of Wymore, and an associate member of the First Christian Church of Sun City, Arizona. Dallas and Thelma spent their retirement years in Arizona. He enjoyed spending time with family, putting puzzles together, playing Sudoku, walking and riding his bike. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Beckman (Grant), Danny, James (Jullie), and Barbara (Crystina Geiswite), 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; brothers, William (Charlene), Gary (Shirley), and sister Marilyn Steltenpohl (Bill); many nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma on October 12, 2013; parents, Sterling and Mildred; sisters, Betty Plihal, Patricia Prebyl and Sharon Mingucci; daughter-in-law, Regina Keck; and grandchildren Joshua and Jasmine Keck and David Beckman. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore with Jon Palmquist officiating. Burial will be at the Blue Springs Cemetery with honors rendered by the United States military and the Anderson Post #25 of Wymore. The body will lie in state at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wymore American Legion Post #25 with the funeral home in charge.
