Deborah Sue Plunkett Lahman passed from her earthly life early Sunday evening November 27, 2022, surrounded by her family in Carlsbad, California. She was born August 27, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, R. Eugene Plunkett and Barbara Rust Plunkett. She is survived by her husband John, and their three children Angela Lahman (Jerry Stuckart), Andrew Lahman (Andrea), and Aaron Lahman (Sara Leoni) and 6 grandchildren: Elena, Jenna, Dasan, Liam, Grant and Bennett. She is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth Hartsough (Michael) and Mary Lahman (David), and her brother Dan Plunkett (Jaine).
The life of Deborah/Debbie/Deb Plunkett Lahman was exemplified by her commitment to team building and community-centeredness. As the oldest of four siblings, Debbie was a spirited child who was active in school and church activities. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Manchester (College) University, majoring in elementary education with a minor in physical education.
Deb met John Lahman in her junior year at Manchester when they both served in residence hall leadership in their respective dorms. They married on January 4, 1975. With John, Deb was exceedingly committed to family. She sandwiched her parenting responsibilities with other endeavors, including local church leadership in women’s and youth ministry as well as work endeavors driving tractors and helping milk cows for local farmers.
Deb was a committed mother who placed her highest priority on her children, their well-being, and developing the fabric of her family. She built her family like a coach with the perspective that supporting one another benefits the whole. Active parenting was her earliest commitment to creating synergy with intention and clarity. Deb and John summarized their parenting values in a book released May 2022 - Embracing Amazing, a resource for raising an empowered family.
As an Intervention Specialist in the Peoria Unified School District, Deb served as teacher/counselor/social worker providing lessons to each grade level as well as day-to-day assistance to students and staff. Deb absolutely loved this team of energetic and enthusiastic colleagues who were so committed to delivering their best to their respective school communities every day.
When she retired from public education, Deborah had an encore career as the founder and CEO of Living Well Now, as an extension of being a Young Living Essential Oils Independent Distributor. This dynamic business owner, motivational speaker, and team-builder extraordinaire never stopped offering herself to her Living Well Now customers and brand partners. She believed strongly in the vision of wellness, purpose and abundance and the practicality of network marketing for sharing with others.
Deborah’s Celebration of Life service will take place on January 7, 2023. Family and friends may visit with the family at 1pm and the service will begin at 2pm at Copper Hills Church, 27035 N Black Rock Blvd Peoria, AZ 85383.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in honor of Deborah to the Living Well Now Foundation, an Arizona 501c3 charity. Co-created by the Lahman family, the LWN Foundation is committed to expanded learning, retreat experiences, and comprehensive mind/body/spirit wellness. An alternate charity is the Circle of Peace ALL IN building campaign which will add a large, functional worship space for the congregation at 8430 W Deer Valley Road Peoria AZ 85345 within the next 18-24 months.
