On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Edward James Burnette passed away in the arms of his daughter, Lisa Swapp, after a short stay at Banner Del E Webb Medical Center in Sun City West, AZ. Edward was born to Olive and Donald Burnette on October 23, 1949. He was raised in a large, blended family with 11 siblings. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Father, sister Anita, and brothers Daniel and Donald. He is survived by his Sisters Gerrie, Juanita, and Donna as well as his Brothers Jeffery, Timothy, Robert, David, and Clifford. He joined the US Army in April of 1969. He became a Combat Medic, a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and once in the private sector he became certified as a Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialty (NPS) at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. While being stationed around the world he received his Associates Degree at Los Angeles Pierce Community College. He was registered in over 5 states. Of course, He also had speeding tickets in all but 7 states, and currently ex-wives living in 4 different states. He also became an expert in rifle, pistol, grenades, pest control, rugby, truck driving, Tac Won Do and being a great dad. He rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class before he retired with 23 years of honorable service in the US military in 1992. At which time he started working completely in the private sector, however he did still volunteer for every war we have had since his first enlistment. Always the first one to protect and serve. He was a loyal servant of G-d through the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Edward's heart got him into and out of a bit of trouble, but all that trouble left him blessed with 2 biological daughters, Christy Petree and Lisa Swapp, and 1 adopted daughter Jessica Hicks. His blessings continued to grow with 4 grandsons, Austin Petree, Ayden Hicks, Ian Hicks, and Tristan Hicks and 2 granddaughters Trinity Burnette and Cheyenne Petree. As well as 3 great grandchildren including Serenity Burnette and her 2 older brothers Hayden Barber and Everett Burnette. Though he had been a father figure to so many more over the years and touched so many hearts that his spirit can never fade.
