Edward Pisacich Obituary
On Sunday, November 12, 2023, Edward Pisacich passed away at the age of 84. Edward was born on May 24, 1939, in West Mifflin (a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) to Mato and Mary Pisacich.
He was the youngest of five children (Katherine, Anna, Matthew, Bernard, and Edward). The children of Katherine and Steve Gorscak are Richard, Donald, Dennis, and Rosemarie Albano. The children of Bernard and Judy Pisacich are Brian, Kevin, Karen Purcell, David, and Timothy. Bernard is the last living sibling:
Mato immigrated from Croatia in 1924. He sent for his wife, Mary, and daughter Katherine, in December of 1929.
Edward graduated from high school in Duquesne, Pennsylvania in 1957 and he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Along with getting his education, he spent those 8 years helping to organize/manage his widowed and ailing mother’s limited financial security.
He started working with GE in Erie Pennsylvania. He worked with various GE computer subsidiaries in the East. He worked for Hughes Aircraft from 1967 to 1969 in California. Edward also spent some time working with his brother in a private cosmetic firm in Chicago.
Edward married Eva Stezin November 20, 1965. In February 1969 Eva and Ed moved to the northern section of Phoenix, Arizona. Ed became hooked on the state of Arizona - it became his adopted state! They lived in Sun City West for approximately 22 years. Edward was very active in the woodshop club and taught the computer club use of Apple products.
Eva passed away in November 2012.
On March 1, 2016, he found new life by marrying Mary Kocha and they moved into The Colonnade (a Sun Health Community) in Surprise, Arizona. They enjoyed the genuine friendships and the social life at the Colonnade. In recent 1-2 years, Ed began to develop memory loss which slowed his social interaction. The sudden death of Mary in July 2023, the relegation to a memory care system, and other health issues was too much to bear.
Ed did appreciate and spoke highly of his friends/ colleagues at Colonnade. It is so sad that his friends and family were not able to communicate their care/love for this good man. After almost 4 very difficult and turbulent months, he finally found peace on November 12, 2023.
There will be a celebration of his life in the spring of 2024 in CT for family members.
