Harold "Hal" Montville Obituary

Harold (Hal) J. Montville, 78, formerly of Peoria, IL. died on March 7, 2024, in Sun City West, AZ, at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center.

Born October 20, 1945, in St. Louis, MO to Harold O. and Virginia C. Frisch Montville.  He married Janice (Jan) K. Chapman on July 27, 1968, in Canton, IL.  She survives.  They have lived in Surprise, AZ for over 20 years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a graduate of Bradley University, where he earned his Master's Degree in Educational Administration.  He taught at Manuel High School for 18 years where he was the head football coach 7 years.  He was the Athletic Director at Macomb High School for 4 years, Assistant Principal at Bloomington High School for 4 years and Bloomington Junior High Scholl for 7 years, retiring June 30, 2002.

During his career, Hal volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club, was a member of the Bradley B Club, American Legion of Bartonville and Elks Club of Peoria.  He holds the record for most football receptions as Offensive End at Bradley University.

Cremation has been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 2-5PM at the Bartonville American Legion 4501 Airport Road Bartonville, Illinois 61607.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen in Hal’s honor.
