Obituary

Irma May Colvin passed away surrounded by family on April 22, 2023, in Sun City, AZ. She was born on May 15, 1939, in Modesto CA. Irma was the daughter of Edward Sipe and Irma Sipe. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Edward (Eddie) Sipe.

Irma had a passion for teaching throughout her life, she started pursuing that passion in college. She graduated from San José State University in 1962 where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority and an assessment committee. Irma then continued her passion as a primary school teacher in California and Washington State (1962-2001).

Irma also loved gardening. She owned a lavender farm for 4 years (2003-2007) and she was a part of the WSU Master Gardeners program. Irma had many other hobbies throughout her life, these included collecting antique dress purses, playing the piano, collecting dolls, cooking, playing cards with friends, and drawing. Irma was also an avid traveler. She traveled often and visited many unique places around the world. Irma enjoyed sharing stories about her travels, and life adventures with family and friends.

Irma was married for 55 happy years to her husband Thomas (Tom) Colvin (1968-2023). She is dearly loved by her 2 sons, Tom Colvin and Michael Colvin. As well as her 3 grandchildren, Skyler Colvin, Jessica Colvin, and Ryan Colvin and daughter in law, Valeree Colvin.
