Jacqueline Kahl Obituary

Jacqueline J. Kahl, longtime resident of Oceanside, California, passed away November 8, 2021 after a critical illness.

"Jackie" was born December 6, 1953 in Lemmon, SD, to parents John and Jean Kahl. After graduation from Lemmon High School in 1972, Jackie attended St. John McNamara Hospital School of Nursing in Rapid City, SD; she received her Diploma of Registered Nursing in 1975. Her nursing career started at St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, SD. Jackie was successfully recruited by the United States Navy for their officer training program in Newport, Rhode Island, and started her naval career at Balboa Naval Hospital-San Diego in 1977, where she specialized in Operating Room Nursing. Jackie went on to serve at Naval Hospitals at Camp Pendleton, Okinawa Japan, and Long Beach. Jackie separated from the USN in 1988 but was reactivated during Operation Desert Storm. Jackie was awarded the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas service ribbon with Bronze Star. Jackie was a well respected nurse and Naval Officer.

Upon her separation(s) from the USN Jackie was a valuable operating room nurse at Tri City Medical Center in Oceanside, CA for more than twenty years. Jackie was an excellent and attentive care giver and all her patients were fortunate to be under her watchful eye.

Jackie very much enjoyed life and many activities, but her favorites were cooking, needlepoint, quilting and reading. She was an active member of the El Camino Quilt Guild and studied needlepoint under Nancy Horne. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jason Kahl. Jackie will be sorely missed by her sister Janine and brother-in-law Curtis Morrell of Sun City West, AZ and sister Jennifer Kahl of Sioux Falls, SD as well as her many friends in the Oceanside-San Diego area.

A private memorial service for family and close friends will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.
