James "Jim" Brown loved his country, a ride on a Harley, and above all, his granddaughter Kathleen Danger Merryman, who was his Ladybug. Jim rode onto that great highway of the beyond on April 15, 2022, at the age of 71.
Born July 20, 1950 in Wyandotte, MI to his beloved mother Glema and father John Harold Brown, Jim was a United States Navy Seabee who proudly served his country. He worked for the Oscar W. Larson Company for 30 years. Jim had many, many close friends, notably stepfather Ken Weaver, Jeff Forsyth (whom he shared a passion for classic cars), and his lifelong friends John & Dan.
In his spare time, Jim enjoyed woodworking, hunting, reading, and being in the great outdoors. He was famous for his barbecue ribs and loved to snack on chocolate covered peanuts.
Jim raised his stepdaughter Shannon Merryman from the age of 6 as his own, and is remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Jim is survived by his mother Glema (Ken) Weaver, his wife of 37 years Susan (Fredericksen), his daughter Shannon Merryman, his granddaughter Kathleen Danger Merryman, sisters Gwen (Rob) Schiller and Bev (John) Andrus, and many loving relatives and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his father, John Harold Brown. Per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements for inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery are pending. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to U.S. Vets https://usvets.org/take-action/
