Joe E Williams, 92, passed away November 8, 2023, in Sun City West, Arizona.
Joe was born in 1931 to Ross and Edna (Roussel) Williams. They lived on a large farm in Arkansas, where Joe grew up in a family that would eventually include ten children. His childhood was spent working on the farm, hunting, fishing, and enjoying rural pleasures like hayrides. His upbringing instilled in him the values of hard work and helping others that would shape his character for the rest of his life.
He is survived by his wife Penny, daughter Jaqueline Patterson (Keith), four grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe’s two sons, Michael, and Curtis, predeceased him, as did most of his siblings. His brother Bill Williams (Betty) and sister June Allen (JH) live in Arkansas.
Joe was a warm, outgoing person, who loved his wife, family, and many friends. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed billiards, Bridge, and travel, especially trips to Arkansas to visit his extended family.
Joe was a master craftsman who could figure out how to fix anything. His many hobbies included building furniture, metal working and restoring old cars. He liked to entertain friends with his “Little Joe” card trick and awe the grandkids by demonstrating the “amazing magic straw” that rolled across the table untouched by human hands!
Joe worked for Arizona Public Service for 32 years, retiring in 1988. A proud Navy veteran who served during the Korean Conflict, he joined the American Legion when he moved to Sun City West and assisted in performing many funerals for military veterans.
He will be remembered, loved, and missed by many.
