Larry Taylor Lampson passed away on January 11th, 2023, at the age of 86 in Surprise Arizona after battling Parkinson’s disease.
He was born in 1936 in Streator, Illinois to Mildred May Lampson (Thew) and Daniel Madison Lampson.
Larry graduated from Ralph Plumb Grade School in 1950 and Streator High School in 1954.
He received his Business Degree from Northern Illinois University and then joined the Army where he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. After serving his country, he went to work for Royal-Globe Insurance as an adjuster, and then as Vice President of Allred and Allred Insurance. He made partner at Baker Weller Speno where he then started Lampson Insurance. He later opened his own insurance agencies as President of All Valley Insurance and All West Insurance where he was the founder and CEO in San Jose, California.
Larry retired in 1994 and moved to Surprise Arizona with his wife Lori. He has given back to his hometown of Streator by setting up the Larry Lampson Annual Scholarship at Streator High School. He was also instrumental in restoring the VA Memorial and supported the YMCA in Streator, Illinois. He was also a longtime supporter of the Streator Historical Society where they will be dedicating a room in his name.
He loved to travel and was lucky enough to travel the globe after retirement and then follow his passion of golfing daily until he was 80 years old.
He is survived by his wife Lori Dao Lampson and his children, Lori Trebbien (Dan) of Santa Cruz, California, and Taylor Lampson (Brighid) of Sebastopol, California and his grandchildren, Evan and Claire Lampson and Colton and Zachary Trebbien. He is also survived by his wife’s children, Rebecca (Jon) Law, and Benjamin Dao (Vy) and grandchildren, Ella and Nathan Dao, and Kennedy Law as well as his sister Judi Sexton of Wickenburg, Arizona.
