Leslie Roger Southorn

On October 30, 2023, the world lost Dad joke aficionado, quintessential “Mr. Fix It”, and former BMO Auditor, Leslie Roger Southorn, of Scottsdale, Arizona, at age 90.  Passionate about all things that could be tracked, measured, fixed, and brought into right order, he was affectionately known as the Harris Bank’s biggest “Super Sleuth” Auditor back in the day in Chicago, Illinois.  Born in Oak Park, Illinois on September 23, 1933, Roger also sought to explore, travel and support his community and country, including serving in the United States Army in 1954 – 1955 in Korea. After meeting the love of his life, Carol Clark Southorn, marrying and having their daughter Lee Ann, Roger dedicated himself to perfecting the art of boating and water skiing on the Fox River or Lake on sunny Midwest summer weekends. As a father and grandfather, he inspired a sense of continual learning and curiosity, finding joy in the moment, and remembering to not take oneself too seriously. Later in life, his Fix-It skills became renowned, as he would not just repair broken items but MacGyver creative solutions with limited resources. He is preceded in death by his father, Leslie Robert Southorn, his mother Marjorie Ann Frisby Southorn, and his wife of 48 years, Carol Clark Southorn. His memory and legacy lives on in the hearts of his daughter, Lee Ann Del Carpio, and his grand-daughters Angelena Alohilani Del Carpio and Kaia Isabela Del Carpio, of Scottsdale, Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 10:00am at Camino Del Sol Chapel, 13738 W Camino Del Sol, Sun City West, AZ 85375.
