Louis J. Dvorak, 90, passed away of natural causes on Monday, January 10, 2022, in Surprise, AZ. Louis, better known as Lou, was born on March 7, 1931, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Blanche (Odehnal) and Louis Dvorak, Sr. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954 and was dedicated to the service of his country. He worked 24 years as a chemical operator overseer for N & L Industries in St. Louis until the plant closed in 1978. Lou then accepted a position as a chemical chief panel operator for Monsanto, but was laid-off after eight years of employment in January 1986. He then worked at Kroger Dairy as a pasteurizer for only four months. At the age of fifty-five, Lou Dvorak began his ten-year career until retirement as a correctional officer for Missouri Eastern Correctional Center (MECC) in Pacific, Missouri. Lou enjoyed escaping the city and spent weekends at his farm in Montgomery County, Missouri where he loved to tend a vegetable garden, drive a tractor, and hike in the woods. He also loved to travel. The western state vacations were his favorite, therefore, he decided to move to Arizona shortly after retirement. He enjoyed his retirement life in Surprise, Arizona living at Sun City Grand and later at Litchfield Joy Senior Living when he needed assisted living care.
Louis was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Katunar) and his younger brother, Richard Dvorak. Lou is survived by his dear daughter and son-in-law, Carol (Rick) Gettings; dear daughter and son-in-law, Joanne (the late Brad) Goldinger; and dear grandfather of Jacob and Samuel Athanas.
A memorial service for Louis will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 10:30am at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel followed by military honors committal service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 12:30pm.
