Margaret Jeannette D’Arche

Jan. 21, 1934 – Feb. 20, 2024

On Tuesday, February 20th, 2024, Margaret Jeannette D’Arche, loving wife and mother of six children, passed away, peacefully at the age of 90.

Jeannette was born on January 21, 1934, in Greybull, WY, to Willis Anderson and Margaret Elizabeth Borden Smith.  Her father passed away when she was 6 years old.  In 1942, her mother married Jackson Ray Douglass, who raised his stepdaughter as his own.  She received her schooling in Shell and Greybull, WY, graduating from Greybull High School in 1952, and attended Pasadena City College.  On June 16, 1956, she married Gayle Allan D’Arche in Pasadena, CA, at Holy Family Catholic Church, where they met at a young Catholic’s dance.

Jeannette led a full life of AZ sunshine and golf.  She loved playing golf with her husband and friends, she was known as a great putter.  She enjoyed making desserts, playing the piano and singing with her husband and volunteering time at her church gift shop.  She loved playing cards with friends and family, her favorites being Bridge and Maj Jong.  She and her husband would spend the summers traveling around the U.S. to visit children, grandchildren and playing golf courses new to them.

Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband Gayle, daughter Mary Jolene Keenan, her mother, father, and stepfather; three brothers, Eugene Douglass, Jack Douglass Jr., and Willis Don Smith; and two sisters, Jolene Whaley, and Carolyn Wright.

She is survived by her two sons, Gayle A. D’Arche Jr. of CA, and Peter D’Arche of AZ; three daughters, Margaret Oblander of WA, Sally Gatti of TN, and Elizabeth Driscoll of WA; sixteen grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, cousins, and friends.

A Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, at Prince of Peace Catholic Parish in Sun City West, AZ at 11am.
