Marvin B. Geiger, age 93, of Sun City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023. He was born on October 5, 1929, to the late Edward J. and Geraldine L. (Burns) Geiger in Syracuse, NY. He attended Christian Brothers Academy graduating with honors in 1947. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served for five years. On February 10, 1951, he married Alda Lou Hyatt at St Mark’s Church in Syracuse N.Y.
He began his career with GE/Honeywell Bull in 1952 in Syracuse. In 1967 the family moved to Arizona when GE/Honeywell Bull transferred Marv to Phoenix to become Manager of Personnel Accounting. Marv was a very active volunteer for numerous church and community organizations including serving on school and HOA Boards, ushering and tallying collections at St Thomas the Apostle Church. Marv also volunteered with Junior Achievement, and coached his children’s Pop Warner and Little League teams. Marv retired from Honeywell Bull in 1989 and then served as President of the Honeywell Retirees Club.
Marv is survived by his three children, Cindy Sparks (Doug), Roger Geiger (Margie), Brenda Mastro (Mike), ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by Alda, his bride of 71 years, daughter Sandra Corriero, his parents, and brother Robert Geiger. Marv was a “Tough Old Marine” with a soft heart who will be greatly missed.
Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on August 25th, 2023, at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Catholic Church, 2825 W Rose Canyon Circle, Anthem, AZ 85086 with a reception to follow. There will be a private Committal Service at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marv’s memory may be made to Semper Fi & America’s Fund 825 College Blvd, Suite 102 PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92057.
