RICHARD H. KOEPP
Peoria, AZ. Richard (Rick) H. Koepp, 77 years old, passed away April 23, 2023, of Cardiac Arrest; with no prior illnesses. Rick was born October 24, 1945, to Willis Frank Koepp of Calmar, IA, and Helen Dorothy Sersland of Decorah.
Rick graduated from Decorah High School in 1963 and decided to enlist in the U.S. Navy, San Diego, CA in 1966; on ship USS St. Paul; earning the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
After his Naval service, Rick started work for Rockwell Collins International in Cedar Rapids, for 36 years, where he was a Senior Buyer; he retired in 2010 and worked from his home in Arizona for another 5 years.
Rick was married to Vicki Uze-Koepp in April 2000 and moved from Cedar Rapids, IA, to Scottsdale, AZ, and later to Peoria, AZ. His passion was painting and playing his guitars, where he did some 4 years in local bands. His spare time was filled with hiking and running; he participated most weekends in races; he always told that he climbed the highest peak in Arizona, Humphrey’s Peak; also loved biking and paddle boarding. He met his wife Vicki, while competing in Dragon Boating in an International competition with the ONLY “Senior Boat” the Grey Dragon, in 1998.
Rick is survived by his wife Vicki, brother, Randy of Decorah, IA, and 3 children; Melonie of Cedar Rapids, IA, Betsy from Dillon, SC, her husband, Dr. Alto Odin, and Brice Koepp of Orlando, FL, along with step-son, Steven Shrock in Avondale, AZ, and 6 grandchildren; Brandon Ash, Cedar Rapids, IA, Dylan Odin, Madison Odin, Emerson Odin, and Hudson Odin, all from Dillon, SC, and Evan Koepp of Orlando, FL.
May he rest in Peace at Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa.
