Richard “Dick” Alfred Toetz, 83, was called home on March 31st, 2022. His room was ready in heaven and Jesus came to welcome him. His high school sweetheart and loving wife Linda Sue of 62 years of marriage was by his side.
Dick was born August 9, 1938, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to Alfred and Olga (Goldapske) Toetz. He happily spent his childhood in Fond du Lac. He was a member of the Army National Guard and the Reserves of Wisconsin. He met Linda Sue Schnell and they were married on May 21, 1960. Together they raised two daughters, Tammy and Tara. Dick was a milkman for many years with the Karnak Dairy and then the Lake-to-Lake Dairy. Dick and Linda Sue moved to Arizona in 1974. He then worked for Crystal Water, now known as Sparkletts, retiring in 1998. He was fondly known as “the water boy” by many of his customers. He was a wonderful hands-on father to his two daughters. He never missed an activity or game they were in. Dick loved going back to Wisconsin to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseshoes, bingo, going to the casino and of course a good game of sheep head. He had many hobbies but like his Uncle Freddie he really enjoyed coaching the Packers, Diamondbacks, Suns, Nascar to name a few from the comfort of his favorite recliner. Dick was a lifelong member of the WELS Church, and he attended Emmaus Lutheran Church since 1976 where he served as an elder.
Dick was preceded in the next life by his parents, Alfred and Olga Toetz, brother-in-law Dave Jagdfeld. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue (Schnell) Toetz; daughters Tammy Rodgers (William Bishop) and Tara (Don) Willoby; grandchildren Taylor (Mason) Smith, Brook Willoby, Wesley Willoby (Kendra Hutchison), and Colton Rodgers; great grandchildren, Micah and Asher Smith and Ryleigh Willoby; siblings, Leonard (Ann) Toetz, Sandra Jagdfeld, Marilyn (Steve) Barrett, Barbara (Mike) Konrad, and David (Joan) Toetz.
A Celebration of Life for Dick will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 (Dick & Linda’s 62nd Wedding Anniversary) at Emmaus Lutheran Church 3841 W. Sweetwater Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. Service officiated by Pastor Ross Else, and a luncheon to follow. Cremation has taken place.
In remembrance of Dick’s Confirmation March 29, 1953, Pastor Pieper gave him the following bible verse. Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
