Robert Miller Obituary

Robert C Miller

October 15, 1939 -January 28, 2024

Robert Clark Miller of Sun City West, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. He was 84 years old

Bob was born in Seattle Washington to Elvin and Lavonne Miller.  He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School and attended college at the University of Kansas and Pittsburg State College.  He attended Wilson Aircraft Pilot Training and became a licensed pilot in 1964.

In 1966, he married Linda Bartley, his high school sweetheart. He loved his family and he and his wife Linda raised their two children, Melinda Lee Miller (Mindy) and Robert Bartley Miller (Bart) at Lake Quivira, Kansas, where he was a volunteer fire fighter, sailor, car enthusiast, and friend. His favorite vacations involved skiing and visiting beaches and lakes. The family were members of Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas.

After working in aviation sales, Bob spent most of his working life in the banking field with Commerce Bank of Kansas City, Columbia Union Bank, Citicorps Leasing and was President of First State Bank in Kansas City, Kansas.

After retiring in 2001, he and Linda moved to their second home at Lake of the Ozarks where they were members of Ozark Chapel Methodist Church.  They enjoyed their pontoon boat on the lake and having friends and family visit them.  Bob was on the Finance committee for the church and President and Treasurer of his homeowners associations.

After visiting Arizona in 2010, Bob and Linda bought a second home there in 2012 and moved there in 2013.  They joined Desert Palms Presbyterian Church.  They enjoyed the sunshine and convenience of Sun City West where they were close to recreation and medical assistance.

Throughout his life, Bob had an interest in flying and he was a fan of all sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals.  He took great care of Linda when she had various surgeries and took care of their home and finances.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, Linda, his daughter, Mindy, and his son, Bart, (Becky), grandchildren Andrew, Owen and Claire Miller, and sister Norma Pasmore and nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
