Sandy Ver Voort Obituary

Sandy (Hermus) Ver Voort, age 73, passed away after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma Cancer on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.  Sandy was born on June 14, 1949, to Alice and John Hermus of Kimberly, WI.  She attended Kimberly High School.  Sandy is the oldest of ten children.  She worked at S.C. Shannon Co for several years before leaving and taking on cleaning offices and then homes.

Sandy married Joe Ver Voort on May 2, 1972.  Together they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.  Joe and Sandy lived in many places including Kimberly, Boom Bay, where they lived on the water and she loved fishing, then New London where she loved gardening and had so many beautiful plants, before moving to Arizona 13 years ago where they enjoyed life to its fullest.  Together they traveled to Holland to research her family tree and heritage.  They traveled around the states while visiting many friends and family along the way, always traveling by car.  Sandy forever the navigator, with Joe at the wheel.  They also enjoyed traveling the world for a few years.

Sandy was a beautiful soul inside and out.  She enjoyed golfing with her many friends she made in Sun City West.  She enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewer, Bucks, and of course the Cardinals being in Arizona.  Whenever family or friends would visit from out of state, she enjoyed taking them to the many beautiful sights, parks, and memorials that Arizona has to offer.  She always made sure everyone saw Arizona through her eyes.

Sandy is survived by her husband Joe.  She is further survived by her mother Alice Hermus, and siblings Jim (friend Pattie Mcewen-Kiel) Hermus, Jeff (Rose) Hermus, Sue (Terry) Jansen, Ron (Susan) Hermus, Rick (Cheryl) Hermus, Ken (Nora) Hermus, Greg (Debra) Hermus, Russ (Amy) Hermus, and Terry (Kate) Hermus.  And their God Daughters Jessi Hoerth and Lisa Waidler, and God Son Jake VerVoort.  Her in-laws: Barb Schuh, Betsy (Tony) Wisneski, Dick (Mary) Ver Voort, Jerry (Cheri) Vervoort, Terry (Lori) VerVoort and Patty.  She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Sandy is preceded in death by her father John Hermus, sister-in-law Vicky Hermus, and brother-in-law Chuck Schuh.

A special Thank you to all her friends in Arizona who spent time with Sandy during her stay at home, she loved them all.  Specially neighbors Rodger and Candy who were there daily to visit and help.

A Celebration of Life for Sandy will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at St. Paul’s Church, 410 Wallace St., Combined Locks, WI.  Visitation from 10:00-11:00 am with Mass at 11:00 am and a Reception to follow.

Please no flowers or monetary gifts.   Just be kind and appreciate what you have.  Be kind to a friend or neighbor.  Spend more time with family and friends you still have, that means more than flowers or money.  “Love you always Sandy” your husband Joe.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
