Virginia “Ginger” McNally

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia “Ginger” McNally on Apr. 10, 2023 in Sun City West, AZ.  Born in San Francisco, CA on Aug. 15, 1937, Ginger was the third of five children of James Lawrence McNally and Alice Veronica Farrell.  She was predeceased by her brother, James Patrick McNally.

Ginger grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Star of the Sea Academy. After high school she went to work in the business district of San Francisco doing secretarial work.

She loved antique furniture and glassware. After having worked for many years as an Executive Secretary with General Electric, Ginger started her own business as an antiques dealer, doing all the furniture refinishing and restoration herself. She also enjoyed the outdoors and while living in Gilroy, CA and later Coulterville, CA she grew vegetables and raised chickens. She was an excellent cook and canned her own preserves.

Ginger had a love for her family, photography, and for family history. She combined those passions by making calendars with photos every year for family members. She continued her mother’s work in genealogy and was talented in restoring old photographs on the computer, becoming the new family historian.

She retired to AZ where she enjoyed spending time with her sisters and her brother. She was part of the computer club, the photography club, and she started a crocheting club where she taught others how to crochet.

A kind, loving woman, Ginger will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Ginger is survived by sons Jeffrey Taylor of Surprise, AZ; and James (Wendy) Taylor of Livermore, CA; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sisters Mary McArdle; Mickey Hanford; Bonnie (Robin) Way; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Apr 22, 2023 at 11 AM at Camino Del Sol Funeral Home, Sun City West, AZ. Interment will be in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA.
