On Saturday, October 14, 2023, William Joseph Billinghurst (Bill), devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 77. Bill was born on January 5, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio to William Shea Billinghurst and Agnes Rose (Jackie) Jacko, who both preceded him in death. He married Nancy (Felske) Trimarche in 1987.
Bill graduated from Avon High School, Avon, Ohio, then received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He spent his entire career dedicated to education. Bill worked as a high school English teacher, a middle school principal, and an Assistant Superintendent in Westerville, Worthington, and Delaware school districts in central Ohio. He retired from the Delaware City Schools, Delaware Ohio. He and Nancy moved to Sun City West, AZ in 2011.
Bill had a passion for classic cars, car shows, cleaning and waxing his cars and keeping up on all the new cars and their features. He always had sage advice about a car purchase for anyone interested. He let his wife, Nancy, convince him to buy a Jeep, against his better judgment, because he thought Jeeps were not very reliable. They joined the Jeep Group in the Sportsman’s Club of Sun City West, where they explored every inch of off-road Arizona with fellow “Jeepers.” Bill was also an avid book lover, always reading two at the same time. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, his love of learning, and his kind compassionate spirit. Bill will be missed by many family members and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 36 years, and his two sons, Derk Trimarche (Mandy) and Joel Trimarche (Tammi). He has three grandchildren, Skyler Sequiera (Alexandra), Anthony Trimarche, Brooklyn Trimarche, and two great grandchildren, Carter, and Damon Sequiera. His siblings who live in Ohio are sisters, Pattie Koepke (Bob-deceased) and Judy Peterson, (John) and his brothers, Mike Billinghurst (Linda) and Tim Billinghurst (Kathy). There are also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Grand Canyon Room of the Sun City West Foundation. A second Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Gathering Hall of All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 N. High Street in Worthington, Ohio.
Any contributions in memory of Bill may be made to a Hospice organization of choice.
