Wilma Lou (Turgeon) Johnson was born in McCune, Kansas on July 8, 1934 and passed away in Sun City West, AZ on March 31, 2022. She moved to Eastern Washington with her parents, Mattie and Karl Hevel when young. Later, settling in Seattle, she married Vernon Turgeon in October 1954. As an only child, she was thrilled to join the larger Turgeon family, including their many lifelong friends. Wilma and Vern raised 3 children in South Seattle, she worked at JC Penney Southcenter Warehouse, enjoyed family and friends and many sports activities with her children.
After Vern’s death, Wilma married Dennis Johnson, joining his very large family of 7 children and numerous grandchildren. Wilma and Dennis retired and became “snow birds” spending their summers in Seattle and several months in Arizona, first in Yuma with many motor home travel adventures; then settling in Sun City West. They enjoyed the warm weather and outdoor fun with many friends, and spent several fun years volunteering at the Seattle Mariners Spring Training facility.
Wilma was a fun, friendly and honest person and made the most of her time with family and friends. She had numerous hobbies, and knit amazing items for her grandchildren. She loved dogs, flowers, and music. She shared a love of sports with her family, proudly wearing the Seattle colors in Arizona (adopting AZ teams also), and she and Dennis regularly hosted Super Bowl parties until the pandemic hit. She was very lucky to enjoy two consecutive 30+year marriages and grew from that only child to a women with a very large family.
Wilma is survived by her children Cecilia Wallick (Ron), Dave and Russ Turgeon; grandchildren Julie and Nick Wallick, Erika and Brian Turgeon and great grandson Camden Davis; as well as Johnson children Kim (Theresa), Lynn Green (Mike), Todd (Renee), Dawny Everson (Tim), Toni Becker (Mike), Tina Richman (Ken) and Shawn Stark (Greg); grandchildren Kristin Garner, Lisa Jensvold, Cody and Tylen Johnson, Michelle Shimmin, Jennifer Drysdale, Tim Green, Rhiannon Reed (Robert), Delana Pomada, Adrianna Crim, Sarah Ghormley, Christopher and Cory Mohs, Kenny Mohs (deceased) Kelsey Kelly, Kyle and Bryton Stephens, and Josh Stark; and 31 great grandchildren.
Wilma will be missed and never forgotten.
